Situation: Amy has very little time to workout although she knows how it important it is. In Med school, Amy used the Tae Bo tapes first thing in the morning but she was looking for a change and bought herself a Nordic Ski Trainer from the local Fitness store. During her undergrad schooling, Amy was on the university swim team and won 3 National Titles for the 50 m freestyle and set a Division record. Mary has limited time to workout so the 30 minutes is perfect for her schedule. Mary is also a competitive recreational skier and is frustrated when she takes her yearly trip only to find that it takes 2 days of her precious vacation time to get into "skiing" shape.
Goals: Mary wants to be able to go on her next skiing trip without having to use her trip as "getting in shape" time.
Equipment Used: Nordic Ski trainer
Amy's Experience: Amy starts her first workout with the Nordic Track and her new Cardio Coach™ CD.
Her exercise machines resistance settings go from 0 to 10 and her console reads her speed as Strides Per minute (SPM).
Since she has never exercised using her new equipment or CD, she decides that she is just going to exercise at a steady pace and experiment a little with the settings to get more familiar with what feels comfortable.
Amy learns that a setting of "3" on her Nordic Track is probably a good Resistance setting for her corresponding LEVEL 1 Cardio Coach™ LEVEL.
For her speed she feels comfortable with 60 SPM for her warm-up. She experiments with speed during the workout and decides the next day she would try and use 80 SPM for her LEVEL 3 sprints. Amy writes her notes down while exercising and can't wait to put it to the test for her next workout.

Situation: George has kept himself in pretty good shape over the years. Most of his activity came from coaching his grandson's youth soccer league games (15 years for 3 grandson's). George belongs to the local Health & Racquet Club and uses a personal trainer 3 days a week for strength training. He enjoys the YOGA classes and uses Cardio Coach™ on the days that the group cycling classes are filled up. George just wants to age gracefully and have the chance to see his grandson's grow up.
Goals: Maintain and improve health & to coach his grandchildren's children soccer team.
Equipment Used: George enjoys all the equipment and cross trains on each piece.
George likes to use all the equipment that his health club offers although he seems to lean towards the Stair Master.
George begins by setting his Stair Master on a manual mode and uses his Polar Heart Rate Strap to link up to the machine's internal heart rate chip.
To accommodate the workout CD, George uses stride length to change up his effort level as well as changing the machines Levels)
George uses the following for his workout:
